Application:

Removing these sensors (SW22 & SW24) installed in cars, vans & trucks can cause enormous problems. The hex head of the sensor and/or the mounting thread in the exhaust system are often damaged when removing these sensors. This results in high consequential costs, e.g., replacing the corresponding exhaust system component in which the sensor is mounted. This special tool ensures sensor removal, thread cleaning, and the possible installation of a new thread insert through the following work steps:

DUO Sensor Socket:

for loosening the sensor using a special socket insert (SW22 or SW24) which fits positively and closed against the sensor hex head. Using an actuating nut SW30 or a ring wrench, which in turn engages with the socket insert, remove the sensor. This ensures damage-free sensor removal.

Cleaning and Re-threading:

of the sensor mounting thread in the exhaust system. Two special thread taps developed for this application (M20x1.5 & M22x1.5) enable re-threading even in the tightest spaces.

Thread Renewal:

by drilling out the damaged sensor mounting thread using a concentrically guided drill bush with depth stop, carbide-equipped core hole drill device. Subsequently, a thread insert mounting thread is cut using a special tap and a new thread insert (M20x1.5 or M22x1.5) is installed using a mandrel.
