T40243 Timing Chain Tensioner Wrench – Camshaft Locking Tool

For VAG TFSI vehicles (after 2007), a special tool kit is required for timing chain renewal or replacement.

This specially designed tension lever is suitable for the later engine generation III 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI with 4 valves. With this single-piece lever, the timing chain tensioner is pushed back without requiring disassembly of the front engine cover.

Instructions:

Screw the tool to the engine block as shown in the drawing (above in images) and use it to lever back the timing chain tensioner. The tensioner can then be locked in the retracted position with a suitable pin.
